Two curvilinear banks, 6 to 12m wide, are visible as subtle earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 crossing the contours of the north-west facing slopes overlooking the Lud Brook for up to circa 175m.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Ugborough but are in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which has been characterised by HLC as medieval enclosure based on strip fields.
The earthworks are interpreted as probably the remains of field boundaries of medieval origin that had been removed from use by the early 19th century.
The banks remain identifiable as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019.
