Summary
A pit probably a small quarry or extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century date, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards near the summit of the ridge along which Ridge Road runs, south of Higher Ludbrook Farm. The pit is most clearly identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019.

The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map.

An irregularly shaped pit approximately 20 by 37m across is visible as a subtle earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 north of Ridge Road, Ermington, near the summit of the ridge along which Ridge Road runs, south of Higher Ludbrook Farm.
The pit is most clearly identifiable as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019.
It is interpreted as the remains of a small quarry or extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century date.
It is not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map, and therefore possibly passed out of use some time prior to circa 1880.
