Fragmentary earthwork banks up to 10m wide are identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019, on the south-facing slopes south of Old Traine.
A curvilinear ditch centred at circa SX66095177, flanked on its eastern side by a ditch, corresponds with a boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Modbury. Defining the south-eastern edge of a former orchard, probably associated with the house and park at Traine to the north and west, the boundary is possibly post-medieval in date.
The remaining ditches do not correspond with any depicted boundaries but are in keeping with the character of the medieval field pattern to the south and east.
It is possible that the remaining sections of ditch are remnants of medieval field boundaries that were partly cleared as part of post-medieval reorganisation associated with the house and park at Traine. This might include the rectilinear enclosure to the south east recorded as MDV128482.
