A curvilinear bank circa 3m wide and 37m long and an L-shaped scarp of similar proportions are visible as subtle earthworks on the south-facing slopes at the head of the combe immediately south of Woolston.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe map for West Alvington but are in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which was characterised by HLC as of medieval character.
The relict earthworks are interpreted as the remains of former field boundaries of probable medieval origin that had been removed prior to the early-19th century.
The earthworks are not identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and have probably been levelled.
