Several curvilinear earthwork ditches, approximately one metre wide, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured from 2005 onwards, on the valley slope west of Sydenham Mill. They broadly follow the contour, though they drop more sharply at the south-west end. They are interpreted as the gutters of a post-medieval or 19th century catchmeadow, originating from a water channel west of the mill. The gutters are not depicted on the available historic mapping, and the system probably went out of use by the late-19th century.
