Full description
Cox, J. + Thorp, J. R. L., 2019, Cookshayes, Widworthy, Devon, 13-14, Figs 8, 15-17 (Report - Survey). SDV364102.
Cider house of local chert rubblestone, terraced into the hillslope to the north of the farmhouse. A building is shown in this location on an estate map of 1780 and it is possible, therefore, that it is contemporary with the 1702 refurbishment of the house.
The roof is now covered with corrugated iron but was probably originally thatched. The eastern end is open to the roof suggesting that the cider press was located here.
