The depressions are situated either side of a small stream tributary on the eastern bank of the River Tavy.
Some of the earthworks correspond approximately with an ‘Old Quarry’ depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and with a plot recorded as ‘Rock Hill’ in the Tithe Apportionment.
