Four large oval and irregular shaped depressions between circa 8 and 24 metres across and a small oval mound circa 12 metres across are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005. The depressions are situated either side of a small stream tributary on the eastern bank of the River Tavy.
Some of the earthworks correspond approximately with an ‘Old Quarry’ depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map and with a plot recorded as ‘Rock Hill’ in the Tithe Apportionment.
The earthworks are interpreted as post-medieval to 19th century extractive pits or quarry, that passed out of use prior to circa 1880.
