Summary

Farmstead dates to at least the mid 16th century, based on historical documentation. Shown on the Tithe Map and later historic maps. A number of additional buildings have been added to the farm from the 20th century onwards, although much of the original layout has been retained.

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments, 640 (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Patard is depicted on the Tithe Map (plot 640); farmstead consists of a group of five buildings; three north of track and two to the south.

Late 19th century depiction of Pattard largely matches the earlier Tithe Map depiction, with some additional buildings added to the north and east of the farm

Pattard appears to be first recorded in 1566 when there were 2 tenants (citing Gover et al and Pearse Chope 1902, 450).

The modern map shows some buildings added since the 19th century map to the south of the farm and a collection have also been added to the north/north-east of the Medieval farm.
