Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The plot is recorded as coppice, with a curve in the western field boundary that corresponds approximately with the form of the earthwork.

A large earthwork depression is visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2016 beneath Bullhall Copse. The western part of the depression corresponds approximately to a curve in a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map, where the plot is recorded as coppice woodland. The plot to the south is recorded as 'Bulls Pit Field' (MDV106780). The depression is interpreted as a post-medieval extractive pit, that passed out of use prior to circa 1840.
