Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The earthwork is situated in a plot recorded as Foxmore Hill and comprising coppice and pasture.

An earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The earthwork is cut into the east sloping hillside southeast of Beechwood Farm, now covered in woodland. The earthwork corresponds with the northwest part of a plot recorded as coppice and pasture, and called Foxmore Hill on the Tithe Map. The depression is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction prior to circa 1840.
