A series of narrow curvilinear ditches are visible as earthworks on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The ditches do not correspond to any features depicted on historic maps. They follow the topographic contours of the gently southeast sloping hillside and appear to lead from an old marl pit (MDV39234). The ditches are interpreted as the possible gutters of a post-medieval to 19th century catch meadow irrigations system, fed by the former pit acting as a pond. Several ditches appear to cut through the curvilinear ditches, of probable later date and possibly acting to drain the irrigation system after it passed out of requirement.
