HER Number:MDV134124
Name:Leats below Older Bottom

Summary

Leats and water channels which drew their source from Newleycombe Lake, just below Older Bottom and supplied water to tinworks to the west including Willabeam. Two of the leats run approximately in parallel and are first traceable at SX 5975 7035. They negotiate their way across two large areas of streamwork before arriving at Willabeam where both terminates at the edge of the tinwork, the lower leat was later diverted down the slope to the foot of Willabeam, where it probably supplied an area of streamworks on the north bank of Newleycombe Lake and was probably supplements by three further short sections of leat, also taking water from Newleycombe Lake and diverging at SX5943 7002.
