Name:Tramway route to northern quarry entrance, Foggintor Quarry

Summary

There are two possible tramway routes leading to the northern quarry entrance - this route and MDV134461 to the north. The two are separated only by a low bank and both routes seem to lead to SX 56648 73654 at the edge of the smaller northern quarry face. This particular route curves southwards to intersect with the main trackway through Foggintor (MDV134438) at about SX 56608 73669.

Track bed at SX 56624 73672. It is an estimated 2m in width. As the other route heads in a different direction - across trackway MDV134438 and onto Big Tip - it is possible that both routes were contemporaneous, although only this route is depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map. The map also shows a crane base in the vicinity of the end of the line.
This route is thoroughly inundated by reeds.
