Summary
Remains of a circular granite-built crane base near the southwest entrance to the main part of Foggintor Quarry. It is an estimated 4-4.5m in diameter and c.0.6m tall. It has a large depression in the centre (c.1m across, by estimate). It is located close to the southern side of tramway route MDV134435 and one of the crane's purposes may have been to load material into wagons using that part of the tramway system.

Crane base at SX 56614 73467. Remains of a circular granite-built crane base near the southwest entrance to the main part of Foggintor Quarry. It is an estimated 4-4.5m in diameter and c.0.6m tall. It has a large depression in the centre (c.1m across, by estimate). It is located close to the southern side of tramway route MDV134435 and one of the crane's purposes may have been to load material into wagons using that part of the tramway system. Either this crane base - or MDV134466 - appears to be depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map.
The crane base is in a slightly tumbledown state and is in a mirey patch of the quarry.
