Name:Possible barrow south of Higher Thynacombe Wood

Summary

A low grass-covered mound in the north-west corner of a field, which measures around 0.5 metres in height and 10 metres in diameter, with no stones visible. The edge is most clearly defined on the downhill side tending to merge into the natural hillside on the upper side.

Robinson, R., 1977-1979, South Brent Parish Checklist, October 1978 (Worksheet). SDV151046.

A low grass-covered mound in the north-west corner of a field in the Thinnacombes area Ordnance Survey no. 1862 (Tithe Apportionment no 190) called Bean Town, which occupies the fairly level top of the ridge west of the Harbourne in an area of metamorphosed slate. The height is about 0.5 metres and diameter about 10 metres, with no stones visible. The edge is most clearly defined on the downhill side tending to merge into the natural hillside on the upper side (Robinson, R., May 1978).
This has been inspected by Mr. T. Greeves who considered it to be a possible barrow (October 1978).
