A pit is depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25in map and labelled as Old Limekiln. The pit remains clearly visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2015. The pit corresponds with a small area of limestone geology and was probably associated with a quarry pit interpreted limestone quarry immediately to the south-west (MDV125288). The lime kiln is depicted on the current MasterMap layer and was not transcribed by the survey.
