Full description

Hicks, C. E., 1946, Early Methodism in Tavistock, 241 (Article in Serial). SDV266091.

A Methodist Meeting House is shown on a map of the parish, circa 1780, in West Street, on the site of the present Church Hall. This site is stated in a survey of 1755 as having an almshouse on it given by Elizabeth Moore in 1655, and it is probable that, being no longer habitable, it had been leased to the Society for conversion to a meeting house.
