Name:Possible Cairn or Barrow on Strap Common

Summary

Vis=23/2/1982 (os) an almost circular depression 11.8m diameter and 0.3m deep at centre, lies within a small coppice on strap common. The gravel base is hard-packed and covered with 5cms of humus. Its regularity points to it being a derivative of the cairn ring or pond barrow. Two other depressions of uncertain archaeological significance are visible at sy18469410 and sy18859402.

Unknown, MIGRATED RECORD - MONUMENT PROTECTION PROGRAMME DATA (Migrated Record). SDV331.

Vis=26/8/1997 (salvatore) rchme report that this feature was no longer visible in 1989. This was confirmed by mppa visit. Area now grassed over as part of a poultry enclosure. Considered under mpp, but not recommended for scheduling (mpp).
