(18/07/1989) A post medieval field wall running eastwards from the bank of the East Dart River, at SX 63928060, in a slight southwards curve over the ridge N of Hartland Tor to the Hartland Brook at SX 64458055.
To the W the wall is formed of short irregular sections of roughly coursed large irregular shaped moorstones and incorporating an occasional large boulder and a modern erect gatepost. It is now collapsed and in poor condition. Above the saddle it is 0.8m to 1m wide and about 1m high and as it descends the hill it takes the form of a collapsed cornditch 2.4m wide and 1m high.
There is no evidence of a prehistoric wall as suggested by Greeves (1983), but as it runs parallel to the reaves (SX 68 SW 66) it may have been influences by their layout.
