Area of 'Clay Pits' and 'Old Clay Pits' shown on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map running in two broad bands between Broadway and New Cross.

The area is now a nature reserve and somewhat overgrown but old claypits and spoil heaps can still be seen. The area was reopened in the mid 20th century, hence the large ponds.
