Summary

Hut circle on Blackslade Down, associated with enclosure on reave to the south-west of the Foale's Arrishes settlement. Excavated in 1897 by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee. Surveyed in 2015.

Full description

Baring Gould, S., 1897, Fourth Report of the Dartmoor Exploration Committee, 151-156 (Article in Serial). SDV337081.

Hut 4. Excavated 1896. No sign of human habitation.


Various, 1983, Foale's Arrishes Sketch Survey, 23/5/1983, plan (Worksheet). SDV307217.

Hut circle with internal diameter 5.5 metres, walls 0.6 metres high. Levelled into hillside. Sited south of most south-westerly field boundary. Dubiously a hut - only one ring of stones, many collapsed.
