Until the early 1960's the shaft in vicarage wood was open to an adit on the east of the stream, the wheel pit and ruined buildings are still visible.(hamilton jenkin).

Lopez mine. Plan. Maristow estate office, roborough. Copper. Mine also called wheal lopes, situated in hele bottom woods, produced about 20 tons of copper a month in the 1840's. The old shaft and workings which remain are in let land (harris).

Shown on os 6" 1859 map, and os 6" 1952. A copper lode coursing east, 10 deg south and underlying 20 deg north crosses a north south valley 1 1/2 miles west of shaugh prior and has been worked by six shafts (dines).

Mine also called bickleigh mine. There are various records dealing with the condition of the mine as well as costs. See worksheet for 19th century documentary references (checklist). Vis=16/2/1983 (gray). On the east side of the hele bottom a stone lined shaft and two rectangular areas joined by a stone lined channel are situated. There are the possible remains of a stamping mill near the road and the remains of two other buildings south west of this. There is also, the remains of an adit exit to the south but all are in plantations. Further shafts are situated on the west side of the road (gray).
