Cofflete. For medieval farmstead see sx55sw/95. The tithe map for yealmpton shows the mansion of cofflete to be sited here. The farm buildings were at sx54565162. Illustrated by swete (distant view) in 1796-1797 (dro).

Cofflete belonged to the siveston family before passing to the hill + copleston families by c17. In c19 it belonged to rev richard lane (bannister).

Vis=1/3/1984 (griffiths) cofflete mansion was sited at sx54655155; it seems to have been completely demolished sometime between 1841 and 1858. All that now remains are slight traces of walls - ie slight ridges in the ground, and differential grass growth. The land around was once parkland. To the nw are the remains of the outbuildings see sub sheet.
