Full description

Department of Environment, 1973, Ashburton, 30 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV300597.

Nos. 71 to 75, (odd) North Street. C18, 3 storey block, rendered and painted. 3 flush frame sash windows at each floor. Entablature of former shop front remains, with flanking pilasters, 6-panel doors with fanlights, slate roof. No 75 appears to be wing of Victoria Inn, (qv) No 77.

Pair of houses. Early C19. Rendered fronts, the upper storeys probably timber-framed. Slated roof. Rendered chimney on right gable end. 3 storeys. Each house has 1 window per storey with adjacent doors in centre of ground storey. No 75 has door with 4 moulded top panels, the lower part covered with a C20 panel. Flanking pilasters supporting entablature, which is continued across No 73 and supported at left-hand end by a third pilaster (there may once have been a shop front here). Windows have 6-paned sashes; second storey window at No 75 and third storey windows at both houses have bracketed sills. Boxed eaves-cornice.
