Full description
Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
The fording point must pre-date the 1840s, when the Tithe Map shows the road crossing here, although does not depict the ford/stepping stones.

Marchant's Bridge. On the direct line of the road there are stepping stones and a ford, both still in use. The road was diverted later to a point 76 meters above the ford and an arched bridge of the pack horse type was constructed.
