Two pits circa 5m by 5m in size are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 on the valley floor of the Tory Brook combe.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the 19th or early 20th century maps available to the survey.
It is possible that they are the remains of small quarries or extractive pits that predates the creation of the deer park in 1700, but the character of the visible earthworks might support an interpretation of a more recent creation, perhaps in the late 19th or early-20th century.
The pits remain identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 but have been near levelled.
