(08/12/1996) SX 69856975 to 67907017. An intermittent tinworking extending for some 1.8km W from The Shanty. The workings comprise a number of openworks, tin pits and shafts following a roughly E to W line across Holne Lee towards Ringleshutes Mine. Most of the workings consist of small prospecting pits and larger extractive pits and shafts in three distinct clusters; immediately W of The Shanty where the pits are generally small, along the foot of the N flank of Holne Lee and a series of larger shafts between the two E arms of the Venford Brook. The two openworks are centred on Great Combe, the smaller follows a S to N line up the steep slope on the N side of the combe while the larger, consisting of a large central channel and several smaller branches runs SE to NW from the head of the combe towards the N tip of Holne Lee. A reservoir (SX 67 SE 260) centred at SX 68637002 formerly fed the upper end of this working. There are no structures associated with these extensive workings.
