Visited 05/11/2010. Ditch (SX7659 7951) and leat (SX7689 7939) recorded. Ditch is thought to have functioned as a water catchment for Newton Abbot, supply via Woodcock Stream and reservoir circa 1900 to 1917 (evidenced by deeds). Map and photos attached to record forms.
Tin working gulley also mentioned. Well preserved gully covered in bracken. Location 1: SX 76581 79614 gully meets track/ditch and bank at right angles, no gully depth. Location 1a: 15 metres up the gully (south) is 4 metres wide and 2 metres deep. Location 2: SX 76588 79589 gully now 4 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep.
Location 2a: 15 metres up from location 2, gully crosses a leat at right angles. Location 3: 7 metres above location SX 76592 79555, the gully turns to 245’ and heads up Black Hill. Sketch made.
(February 2012) Very small boundary running east-west noted at SX 76909 79366. Very small field boundary running east/west. Two metres wide (lump and hollow). Lump (wall?) made from stones, also stones on north side. Small sketch.
