Name:Leebeer Mine, Bickleigh

Summary

Tunnel mine. A copper lode was discovered in the parish of bickleigh (1858) when the leebeer tunnel on the plymouth to tavistock railway was being driven. A prospectus was issued in 1859 and the name altered the following year to bickleigh vale phoenix. In 1862 the operation was suspended (hamilton jenkin). Vis=30/7/1982 (gray). There is a triangular opening in the ground with stone walling sides each 3m long, in knowle wood near to where wheal lopez leat enters a culvert (gray).
