Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2014-2015, East and Mid Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV356883.

A ring ditch was visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark to the south-east of Dunsmore Cottages. The cropmark is between 2 to 3 metres wide, enclosing an area up to 14 metres in diameter. It is probable that the cropmarks are the remains of a barrow of Bronze Age date, one of three in close proximity on the east facing slopes of a shallow combe. The ring ditch was previously recorded as located within a rectilinear enclosure. The linear cropmarks correspond with field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Silverton and are probably post-medieval in date. They former boundaries have not been transcribed as part of the survey.
