Full description

(09/03/1979) At SX 57026682, on the summit of Ringmoor Down and adjacent to a reave (SX 56 NE 172), is a robbed cairn. Originally about 10.0m. in diameter it has been so gutted as to leave a perimeter rim 0.3m. high, 1.0m. wide, and ragged on the inner face.
The centre of the cairn is strewn with small stones at surface level but incorporates one upright slab 0.5m. high 3.0m. from the perimeter. This may be the sole surviving part of an inner wall or retaining circle.
The edge of the cairn abuts the reave but the robbing appears to be of fairly recent date (?1939-45 war).
Discovered during field investigation.
Surveyed at 1:10 000 on MSD.

Ringmoor Down cairn '11' at SX57026682 of originally about 17 metres diameter by 0.3 metres high which lies just east of the reave as it crosses the summit. Only part of the outer rim of small stones remains together with a few large blocks.

(14/02/2005) This feature remains as described by the Ordnance Survey (1979) and is visible as a grassy area surrounded by dense molinea. The dating of the disturbance is somewhat doubtful as stone robbing is a common attribute of this area.

This cairn is situated on the brow of a spur extending west from Gutter Tor and lies immediately next to the south side of Eylesbarrow Reave. It is 17 metres in diameter and 0.3 metres in height and there are traces of a retaining circle within the mound, which has been partly disturbed. It lies within 400 metres of several other cairns on Ringmoor Down associated with the reave.
