Building shown on the north side of the road.

There is a bridge toll house at Countess Wear.

The toll house was illustrated in the Express and Echo on 2nd and 9th January 1973.

Lowe, M. C., 1992, Toll houses of the Exeter Turnpike Trust, 91 (Article in Serial). SDV40109.

Site of a toll house which belonged to the nominally separate Countess Wear Bridge Trust. It was built c.1774 at the north-east corner of bridge. Sold in 1874, at which time the porch was removed as it projected into the road. It was in use as a shop by 1948. Destroyed by road improvements in 1973.
