Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Large rectangular building shown on 19th century Tithe Map in a sub-triangular enclosure with smaller buildings to the west, north-west and south. The Apportionment lists the Owner as 'Baring Margaret' and the Occupier as 'John Cribbett & others'. Field Number 1901 is listed as 'House and Yard', Field Number 1900 as 'Garden & Cottage' and Field Numbers 1891, 1897 and 1899 as 'Garden'.

Site visited on 4th August 1979. Modern name Town Wood Farm. The house here now was made out of an old cottage when Town Wood farm was carved out of various other holdings. Town Wood Farm no longer has any land.
