When the mural brass to william strachleigh, d.1583, was repaired in 1985, every piece of metal was found to be palimpsest with flemish engraving ranging from c.1460 to c.1510 on the back. Three notable pieces c.1460 from a bishop or abbot with folded hands. A fuller, illustrated report to appear in bulletin of the monumental brass society (anon).
