Summary

A vermin trap within tinworking remains. It comprises a 1.7m long trap with an 0.2m high side stone which has two narrow slots cut in the front face. The wing walls are 4.7m long.

Cook, R. M. L., 1964, Old vermin traps on south-west Dartmoor, 198 (Article in Serial). SDV230549.

Ditsworthy Warren. Site 5. Type 1, of simple x shape made by building a short intersecting wall across an earlier mound or hedge. Good condition, long side, back stone and walls. North-east edge of gutter mire. Probable date of use was 1700-1800.

Probably Haynes' vermin trap number 14, which makes use of tinner's heaps. The long side stone remains in place and behind it a vertical stone pierced with a round hole.

(20/03/2000) This fairly well preserved vermin trap comprises a 1.7m long trap with one side stone in situ. The granite side stone is 0.2m high and has two narrow slots cut into the front face. The funnels walls are 4.7m long.
