Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1980, SX57SE59, SX57SE59 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV232421.

Site visited on 13th July 1970. One of a group of four hut circles on hillside between two headstreams of Newlycombe Lake. Hut 'B'. Double stone wall with entrance gap on south side and one recumbant door post. Measures 6.9 metres by 6.4 metres with walls 0.5 metres high.

Site visited on 6th April 1993. Northern of two hut circles on the northern edge of an unenclosed stone hut circle settlement. Terraced into the hillside and of the simple plan and double orthostat walling type. Interior measures 6.0 metres in diameter and is defined by a 2.0 metres wide wall standing up to 0.8 metres high. Doorway survives as a 1.0 metres wide gap in the surrounding wall, is lined with slabs on the west and faces south. A 0.6 metres high and 1.4 metres wide lynchet links this hut to its neighbour.

Site visited on 22nd September 1970. This monument includes two stone hut circles situated on the northern edge of an unenclosed stone hut circle settlement, lying on a west facing slope overlooking Newleycombe Lake. Both stone hut circles are terraced into the hillside and are composed of stone and earth walls surrounding circular internal areas. The interior of the northern building measures 6.0 metres in diameter and the 2.0 metres wide wall stands up to 0.8 metres high. The doorway survives as a 1.0 metres wide gap in the surrounding wall, is lined with slabs on the west and faces south. A 0.6 metres high and 1.4 metres wide lynchet links this to the southern hut.
