92 High Street. House and shop. 1710, or possibly a little earlier; later addition at rear. Rendered, solid walls, probably of brick. Slated roof with red ridge-tiles, parallel to street. Red brick chimney on right gable. Plan: double-depth, one room wide. 4 storeys, altered to 3. Asymmetrical but regular 2-window range. C20 shop front to ground floor. Windows with moulded architraves, first-floor windows truncated at bottom by raised ceiling, but retaining some stained glass; 2nd-floor windows 8-pane sashes; 3rd-floor windows 4 over 8-pane sashes. Exceptional coved eaves cornice, decorated with presumably plaster trophies (includes gloves, drums and standards) in deep relief. INTERIOR: altered with original stair removed. Ground floor gutted for shop use. Upper floor retains parts of seed husk plaster ceiling in an C18 style.
