A large earthwork depression is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depression is circa 55m by 40m and corresponds to a plot recorded as 'Pit in Claps Close'. It is depicted as woodland within 'Old Marl Pit' on the First Edition OS map and as earthworks on subsequent maps. The earthwork is interpreted as a old marl pit of post-medieval to early 19th century origin, that ceased extraction by the late 19th century.
