Ladies bridge. Railway bridge over drive to Syon abbey qv (formerly marley house). Late c19, probably built after the conversion from broad gauge was completed in 1893. This section of the south devon railway from totnes to laira, near plymouth, was opened in 1848 as broad gauge. Granite ashlar, with elliptical skew arch, chamfered on one side of arch. Low parapets with cornice breaking forward over the end pilasters in the abutments. Internally the arch is lined in white engineering brick. Ref - david st. John thomas.
