Summary

The cast iron double gates at the southern entrance to St. Marys church are flanked by coursed rubble sandstone piers with beerstone caps each surmounted by a single ball. The date, 1813, is set centrally in the gate overthrow.

Full description

Department of Environment, 1987, Hemyock, 31 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV36975.

Gates and gatepiers 20m south of church of St. Mary at the south entrance. Dated 1813. Coursed rubble sandstone piers of square section with moulded beer stone caps each surmounted by a single ball. Cast iron double gates with simple tracery design; intersecting tracery overthrow with ball finial. The date (1813) set centrally in overthrow.
