Full description
Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.
A 'Pump' is marked on the First Edition Ornance Survey 25 inch map.
Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.
A well is marked as 'W' on the Second Edition Ornance Survey 25 inch map.

Well of drystone construction, at Heasley Mill, apparently fed by a spring at its side. During cleaning of the top 2 meters, five stone artefacts were recovered from the fill. The well appears to go down a further 2 meters. The diameter is 1.10 meters. It used to be used by the school opposite.

The well was dug to a depth of c.13 feet. Appears to be considerably deeper. Several stones were found, which have been suggested to be ritual objects. Possibly a Bronze Age ritual shaft.
Wootton, D., 2006, Comment on finds from well (Personal Comment). SDV337593.
An inspection of the finds from the well, revealed that the finds were pieces of natural stone, and small iron objects, under 100 years old. This would suggest that it is not a Bronze Age ritual shaft.
