A series of irregular shaped depressions between circa 7 and 20 metres across and irregular shaped mounds between circa 6 and 18 metres across are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019.
One of the depressions corresponds approximately with an ‘Old Shaft’ depicted on mid-20th century maps. Adjacent earthworks are depicted on historic maps. The area is depicted as woodland.
The earthworks are interpreted as extractive pits or shafts and spoil heaps of post-medieval origin.
