Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1953, SX78SW11 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV304167.

Pattison, P., 1991, A Survey of Grimspound, Manaton Parish, Devon, 6 (Report - Survey). SDV304224.

Hut 23 is D-shaped with a straight side on the east and measures 3.8 – 4.0 meters in diameter; with walls 0.6 meters wide and 0.75 meters high. The walls consist of a single thickness of blocks and boulders, except for on the south-west arc where both internal and external faces are formed by upright slabs, two of which now lean outwards. Further slabs, probably part of inner face, are now recumbent on the south and western edges. The north-western side is now somewhat irregular - possibly due to the slumping of bank material. There is no obvious entrance to this hut. Gaps occur in the north-east and south sides though no jambs are visible.

Gerrard, S., 1995, 140322 (Site Visit). SDV321021.

Hut circle of the simple plan and single orthostat walling type. The interior of the hut measures 4.0 meters in diameter and is defined by a 0.6 meter wide wall standing up to 0.75 meters high. This hut was not excavated by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee. Other details: MPP/140312 1/11/1995.
