Deerpark mentioned by polewhele in 1797 and Lysons in 1822.


Turton, S. D. + Weddell, P. J., 1992, Archaeological Assessment of SWW Allers to Honiton Water Supply (Hartnoll Cross - Roodloft Reservoir) (Report - Assessment). SDV338766.

Deer park documented in 1633 and described as a hunting chace. Extent not known. Deerpark hotel, deerpark farm and deerpark farm cottages at ngr st13150015, st13250065 and st13080060. South West Water pipeline passes immediately to north of deerpark farm and cuts through several boundaries, some of which may be medieval.

None of the boundaries breached during pipeline construction could be identified as medieval.

A number of "Deer" and "Park" field and place names occur throughout the parish on 1840 tithe map.
