Vis=8/9/1992 (simpson and noble) there is a large platform to the east of mohuns ottey farm on the east side of a track adjacent to the current farm. It is approx 50m e-w and 60m n-s and stands about 1.5m high at its east end (see sketch in archive). The southern edge of this platform is covered by a hedge and a hand made small brick and piece of p. M. Tile were retrieved from a bore scraping into the terrace below this hedge. Many similar bricks were taken from the slope of the bank when the area was ploughed in about 1974.

A roughly rectangular platform or terraced area measuring approximately 40 metres east to west and between 40 and 50 metres north to south was visible on digital images derived from lidar data as an earthwork on the east-facing slopes to the east of Mohun’s Ottery, Luppitt parish. The platform falls within an area depicted as an orchard on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map and therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1880s. The function of the platform is unclear. It is of similar size and plan to the farmstead at Mohun’s Ottery and is tentatively interpreted as evidence of a former settlement of medieval to post-medieval date.
