A respondent to dean milles questionnaire (stated that "on the hill near hembury fort but in broadhembury parish. A little square plot of ground enclosed with a low bank called the churchyard (anciently the ffurcher (?). ) a place where felons were executed and buried when a garrison was kept at hembury fort" (dean milles).

Vis=01/10/1992 (simpson + noble) in this field is a small square enclosure formed by banks about 1m plus high and about 5m wide. The interior is raised and there is a ditch around most of the exterior of the bank, the overall width is about 19m, the internal width is about 8.10m. There is a gap in the bank on the n side. This feature is in the position of the sub-circular feature marked on the os map. There are a few young trees growing within the enclosure. See sketch in archive.
