A series of linear features, possibly visible as earthwork banks of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1989 onwards, to the north of Middleton Barton. The earthworks, which are northwest to southeast aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.65 hectares of gentle northwest facing slope, may represent the remains of agricultural improvement or represent the site of a former orchard or woodland, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the trees. The earthwork banks remain visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs captured in 2014.
