Former extractive pits were visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1971 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in and 2016.
The visible earthworks include with two adjacent pits pit shown on the OS First Edition 25 inch map and labelled as Old Marl Pits, but hollows indicative of further extraction extend beyond these to the north, probably those depicted on the on Tithe Map for Yarcombe, defining a roughly circular earthworks circa 50 metres in diameter.
The earthwork was obscured by trees on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
