Fletcher, M. + Probert, S., 1998, Shaugh Moor, Devon: An Archaeological Survey (Report - Survey). SDV343481.

(03/12/1997) The remains of a hut circle are situated on a north-west facing hillside at SX 5501 6292. It measures up to 11.0 metres across with a level interior approximately 8.3 metres in diameter. The uphill side is demarcated by a curvilinear line of five large upright slabs up to 0.8 metres and some small boulders. One slab stands in isolation on the downhill side and a number of earthfast boulders occur in the interior. Much of the walling has been effaced - the position of the entrance is not obvious.

The area is 75% covered with tall bracken with lower bracken on the west side. The curvilinear line of five stones are in a dense patch of 1.5meter tall bracken. The one slab standing in isolation on the downhill side is firmly fixed as are the curvilinear stones. Althoughthe monument is covered with vegetation no damage is being caused and overall the condition of the site is good and stable. Photo taken

An arc of 5 or 6 large stone settings is visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016 centred on circa SX5501762920. An individual stone is visible at SX5500962925.
It is probable that these are the upright slabs defining part of the perimeter of a hut circle
of probable Bronze Age date.
No evidence of an earthwork hollow or platform was identifiable on any of the sources available to the survey.
