Burrator reservoir was built across the Meavy by the Plymouth Corporation Water Works and opened in September 1898. Land has been purchased so that waters draining into the Meavy above the dam were all captured and the bounds of this land is now marked by a number of boundary stones. These were not erected until between 1917 and 1932. All are dated and inscribed with the initials `PCWW' (Brewer 1986 84).

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1987-1993, Duchy Farms Project Survey Visit (Report - Survey). SDV350839.

(01/11/1994) SX 59966859. A pointed-topped boundary stone lies on the crest of the hill immediately NW of Eylesbarrow. It measures 1.35m high and 0.30m square with the letters PCWW above 1917 on the north face. Several similar stones (SX 66 NW 90-95) run NNE fron Eylesbarrow along the Dartmor Forest/Walkhampton Parish boundary to Nun's Cross.
Adjacent to the stone is an unshaped granite block with an embedded iron spike. The spike is circular in section and has a flattened head. This feature marks the boundary of Dartmoor Forest, Sheepstor and Walkhampton parishes (Brewer 1986, 9-10).
